Cochise County Broadband

Cochise County is taking steps to understand the status of Internet usage for residences and business throughout the County.  Please take Speed Test Survey and the appropriate (Residential or Business) survey below.

We are living in an unprecedented time, and broadband infrastructure will be critical in shaping our rural county for years to come. We saw this demonstrated with COVID-19 when students were unable to connect to classes and employees were not able to work remotely because of insufficient internet connectivity.  Like water and electricity, broadband has become essential infrastructure that can improve education, remote healthcare and economic growth. Improved broadband will help bridge the digital divide between high and low-income as well as urban and rural Americans. Deploying broadband will require a significant financial investment, and partnerships between many organizations.

Cochise County has committed to improving broadband throughout the county, as laid out in the Cochise County Board of Supervisors  Strategic Work Plan 2021 -2024. Priority #1 is Economic Development Countywide, with sub bullet 4 addressing the need to enhance broadband capabilities in rural areas.  To help meet this priority, we have committed funds to complete a Broadband Feasibility study to obtain a complete picture of the state of broadband throughout Cochise County.  The three surveys above are a key piece of data needed to complete this study.  The end goal is to receive insight into necessary key partnerships and funding opportunities to expand and improve broadband where it is needed the most.

Your responses to these surveys are greatly appreciated and will help us as we evaluate Internet needs.  If you have questions regarding how to take the survey, please call the Cochise County help desk at 520-432-9655.
