The Cochise County Jail District Board today canvassed the results of the May 16 Special Election. The canvass is when the Board sends the results to the Arizona Secretary of State. The canvass was approved with a 2/1 vote.
The new Elections Director for Cochise County has been appointed but will not start work at the County until the beginning of July, so this Mail-only election was managed by County Recorder David Stevens, who is the official the new Elections Director will report to.
The appointment of new Elections Director Bob Bartelsmeyer was approved at the April 25 Board of Supervisors meeting.
Recorder Stevens introduced Bob to the county at the meeting and Bob delivered a short introduction as well so that Cochise County folks can start to get to know him.
Bob comes to us from La Paz County in Arizona.
Stevens announced the final results on May 19 shortly after 5:30pm.
