    Thank you for your interest in becoming an Election Poll Worker. The Elections Department is accepting applications for the 2024 election cycle. Please complete this form and submit it using the web page SUBMIT button. The Elections Manager will review your application and contact you for a phone interview. Selected applicants will receive instructions via email about poll worker training dates and location assignment.

    Election workers must be registered voters in Cochise County and remain non-political while serving as a poll worker. High school students who will be 16 years old by election day may apply to be student clerks.  All poll workers must attend mandatory poll worker training.

    Alternates can be assigned to any polling site where an urgent need exists. Notification of this need might be sudden.

    Regular poll workers may be called to serve at ballot replacement locations during local mail-in elections.

  14. Notice to Applicant - Please read before you click submit.
    • No applicant is guaranteed an assignment. Several factors affect election worker selection including site party balance and balance of experience. 
    • Selected applicants are considered temporary contract workers with no guarantee of employment or benefits other than election stipend pay.  
    • Applicants must attend mandatory in-person training in Bisbee and work as assigned to receive election stipend pay. Failure to complete in-person training and/or failure to report to the assigned Vote Center disqualifies an individual from receiving any compensation for services.
    • Compensation of $600 or more in a calendar year is subject to tax withholding. 
    • Workers are paid via check mailed to their address approximately 30 days after the worked election.
    • The Cochise County Elections Department can dismiss an individual for failing to attend training, arriving late to the polling site on Election Day, misconduct at the polling site to include partisan conduct, poor customer service, neglect of duty, insubordination, etc. 
    • Applicants agree to remain an eligible voter and must inform the Elections Department in writing if they change party affiliation.
    • Early notice of a scheduling conflict does not disqualify applicants from selection for a future election, but conflict disclosure after assignment which negatively impacts a polling site may be cause for removal from the poll worker contact list. 
    • Election workers work an average of 15 hours straight on Election Day, and poll workers may not leave their location until dismissed after polls close. 
    • Communication is by email; applicants must have an active email and be in the habit of checking it regularly.
