The Cochise County Board of Supervisors has approved its first bingo license in a decade.
Kimmi Lammi submitted the application for the KL Mescal Bar and Grill, located at N. Cherokee Trail, Benson.
At its regular meeting on September 11, the Board was informed this was the first such license to be applied for in 10 years.
The application was unanimously approved and will now go to the Arizona Department of Revenue (Bingo License Department).
In other business, the Board approved a Series 9 (liquor store) license and a Series 10 (beer and wine) license, submitted by Sumit Thathi for Quick Pic Market, at N. Oak Drive, Benson.
The Board heard one public comment objecting to the Series 9 license from a Benson bar owner concerned about the potential competition to his business.
However, he was informed by Supervisor Ann English that the Board cannot reject an application on that basis.
The Board’s decision will now be forwarded to the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control for final approval by the State Liquor Board.
