The Civil Division of the County Attorney’s Office represents the Board of Supervisors and the following County elected officials: Sheriff, Treasurer, School Superintendent, Recorder and Assessor, along with their departments and staff. The Civil Division also represents the County’s Public Fiduciary, fifteen fire districts, several special districts and Cochise College.
The Civil Division’s responsibilities include defending lawsuits against the County, prosecuting lawsuits on the County’s behalf and advising the elected officials and staff.
The Civil Division also represents prospective adoptive parents who are seeking to adopt a minor child in an uncontested adoption proceeding. Additionally, the Civil Division works closely with Arizona Complete Health, aiding with mental health involuntary commitments. For more information on mental health proceedings, please review the Guide to Court-Ordered Mental Health Proceedings located in the files below.
