Marra Appointed Elections Director

Cochise County Communications and Community Relations Administrator Lisa Marra has been appointed as Director of Elections and Special Districts, effective September 4, 2017.

Marra, who joined the county in 2012, had previously served as Grants Director before being promoted to her current assignment in 2015 which includes public relations, legislative affairs, economic development, and a variety of specialty assignments through the Board of Supervisor’s Office.

Ed Gilligan, County Administrator states, “Lisa’s professional skills and experience will be an immediate asset to our elections department.  In her work she has proven to be ethical, accountable, accurate, and accessible.  I consider these to be essential traits in an elections director and I am excited for what she and our elections team can accomplish together.”

“I am honored to serve a role in the department that is a cornerstone of government,” Marra says. “I am grateful for the opportunity and trust placed in me to work with the current team to move our elections process forward for our residents.”

Marra previously worked at the City of Bisbee in Community Development before moving to Cochise County from Phoenix where she worked in the political and transportation fields for over two decades.  Marra holds a degree in business administration and completed the certified Arizona election officer training earlier this year.  She is currently enrolled at Arizona State University in the Certified Public Manager program.

Martha Rodriquez, who had been Interim Director since January, will continue working on the county elections team in the new position of Deputy Director.
