The City of Douglas will hold an all-mail election for Mayor and Council Members in Wards 1, 3 and 5, on March 10.
All eligible voters will receive a ballot by mail and there will be no in-person voting centers open for this election. Ballot mailings began on February 12 from Phoenix.
The Cochise County Recorder’s Office is providing two secure, locked drop off boxes for ballots. One will be located at Douglas City Hall, 425 E. 10th Street, and the other will be at the County’s service center at 1012 N. G Ave. These ballot drop-off sites are only accessible from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Recorder’s Office will collect voted ballots on a regular basis and is the only organization with access to the drop boxes.
Ballots can be placed in the drop off boxes until 5 p.m. at the County building, and until 7 p.m. at City Hall on election day.
Voters can also mail their voted and signed ballots to the Recorder’s Office in the envelope provided, but they must be received by 7 p.m. on March 10. It is recommended ballots are mailed at least five to seven days prior to election day to allow them to be received in a timely manner.
Ballots can also be dropped off at the Recorder’s Office at 1415 Melody Lane, Building B, Bisbee, before 7 p.m. on election night.
A ballot replacement center will be open at Douglas City Hall on election day only from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., where a voter can be issued with a replacement ballot if their original ballot has been spoiled or they have made an error.
Election results will be posted on the Elections Department’s website https://www.cochise.az.gov/elections/home starting after 8 p.m. on March 10.
All elections in Arizona are required by law to go through a Logic and Accuracy (L&A) test to ensure all necessary equipment, and back-up equipment, is functioning correctly. Testing for the City of Douglas election was conducted at the Cochise County Elections Department on February 10. The County is hired as a vendor to conduct elections on behalf of local cities and towns, and school and special districts.
