The Superior Court, Cochise County, announces that a Justice Court Judge Pro Tempore Selection Committee has been established and is accepting applications for the position of On-Call Justice of the Peace Pro Tempore Cochise County. Appointment is valid through June 30, 2018, and subject to renewal every twelve months. The hourly rate for position is $45.9920 per hour. Hours for this position may be very limited in nature and will include weekends and holidays. There are no benefits associated with this position.
To serve as Justice of the Peace Pro Tempore you must be over the age of 18, a qualified elector and resident of the state of Arizona for not less than one year; and read and write the English language. Preference may be given to graduates of an accredited law school or to individuals with at least five years substantial working experience in the criminal or civil justice system. Duties may include: Conducting initial appearances pursuant to Criminal Rule of Procedure 4.2, conducting protective order hearings pursuant to Rules of Protective Order Procedure; reviewing requests for search warrants, and conducting other civil or criminal hearing which, due to time limits, cannot be postponed until the elected justice of the Peace’s return which could include evictions and preliminary hearings.
