Prior to being elected Cochise County Treasurer in 1980, Marsha Bonham worked for Cochise County seven years and the Arizona Bank nine years. Both Marsha and her husband Jim are Bisbee natives. Jim and Marsha are blessed with two daughters, Lori and Kimberly. Lori has two children – Austen and Ashlyn.

Since being elected, Marsha has represented Cochise County on many state committees. She was elected president of the Arizona Association of Counties in 1998 and was placed on the National Association of Counties Finance and Taxation Committee changed to Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee in 2001 where she continues to serve and represent Arizona. Marsha served as president of the Arizona Treasurers' Association for three years (1992, 1993, 1994). She served ten years on the Arizona State Board of Investments.

Marsha has attended the Southwest School of Government Finance at Texas Tech University; Southwest County / City Leadership’s Program at the University of Arizona, and received a “Certified County Treasurer” designation from Arizona State University.

GladysAnn Wells, Director of Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, appointed Marsha to the Arizona Historical Records Advisory Board (AHRAB) in August 2003. Marsha represents Cochise County on the Benson Heritage Railroad Foundation Board (BHRF). She serves as vice chairman of BHRF as well as education chairman. As such, she gives railroad related talks to schools, churches and service organizations throughout Cochise County. Most requested is her talk entitled “Railroads Intertwine the History of Cochise County.”

In June 2006, Treasurer Bonham received a 2006 Achievement Award in the historical preservation category from the National Association of Counties for her Treasurer's Archives Project.
